BEN JONSON
11 Jun 1572 - 6 Aug 1637


English playwright, poet, and actor. Jonson was a lesser-known contemporary of Shakespeare, and achieved moderate success in his lifetime. His best known works are Volpone (1607) and The Alchemist (1610).
